A GPS navigation device can also be helpful and route cards may be used as a guide. Walking at higher altitudes you will experience some level of discomfort as a result of altitude sickness. Altitude sickness is the body’s reaction to reduced air pressure and lower concentration of oxygen when at higher altitudes. Mild symptoms include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and exhaustion that can be occurred due to high altitudes. So proper medicines and care are required in the hiking activity.

Preparation for Hiking:

  • The best way to deal with it is to allow some time for acclimatization; keep a couple of days extra before your trek. Also, climbing slowly at higher levels helps the body to adapt to climatic conditions. Also, meet your doctor and get prescribed medicines for frequent symptoms such as headaches, shortness of breath, motion sickness, and stomach nausea.
  •  While traveling to an elevated region, make sure to take rests in between.
  • 3. When the oxygen levels are low, your body tries to cope by breathing faster and deeper. This dehydrates your body.
  • So always stay hydrated. Also, avoid smoking and alcohol consumption since it only makes it difficult for you to breathe at a high altitude the most.
  • In diet take more complex carbohydrates in your food, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. They help maintain your energy levels and optimize the oxygen in your body.
  • Being in good physical shape and training in altitude whenever possible helps prepare for the Himalayan heights.

Clothing for hiking:

  •  A good base-layer set will help keep away moisture from your body so you’ll stay warm longer.
  •  Hiking pants are designed with a layer of DWR to help repel light rain and snow.
  • A jacket with Gore-Tex will breathe better than a laminate rainjacket and will prevent you from overheating.
  • Liner gloves are lightweight, won’t take up much room in your pack.
  • You’ll need a pair of well-broken-in shoes to be comfortable for miles.
  • Woke early (by 4 am) to hike in the morning sun and rest during the afternoon thunder and snowstorms.

Most hiking featuring picturesque meadows, the high-altitude treks allow seeing fascinating sceneries in the world.
